Is Body Language in Presentations Over-rated?

We’re told that using body language while speaking and presenting can be a very powerful way of helping to get your message across to your audience but is this really the case?

Do these photos of Reuben Margolin’s expressive gestures and facial expressions make you want to know more about his speech topic?

  1. Yes, most it most certainly does. When I watch someone who is both verbally and physically animated I feel the desire to be engaged in the topic. If I want to see a animatronic I will go to the Hall of Presidents at Disney.
I also tend to lean to being very animated when I speak publically, while it may not improve my public speaking it is who I am and some seem to enjoy it.
